The latest Truck Industry Council (TIC) commercial vehicle sales data to the end of June 2017 year to date, highlights the Daily cab chassis was comfortably the best-selling European light truck model in Australia, with 390 units sold, for a market share of 7.2 percent. This represents an increase of almost 90 units on the same period last year.
In the ultra-competitive light duty van market, IVECO also improved its position with volume of 164 units, up over 40 units on this time last year.
IVECO Australia Managing Director, Michael Jonson, said the Daily’s steadily increasing sales performance reflected a gradual change in buyers’ attitudes and requirements, particularly in the light truck market.
“Some buyers follow the pack or just purchase the same brand and style of vehicle they always have, but increasingly, operators are becoming more aware of the benefits of European light trucks such as the Daily range,” Mr Jonson said.
“When compared to its cab over competitors, the Daily ticks a lot more boxes particularly in terms of safety equipment, engine power and efficiency, transmission performance – especially IVECO’s 8-speed full automatic Hi-Matic – and driver comfort, which will be expected by those making the transition from a more car-like utility to a light truck.”
Mr Jonson said that in recent months IVECO had further increased its breadth of models across the Daily range, as well as introduced new models to plug niches in the market.
“IVECO can now offer vans ranging in volume capacity from 7.3m³ to a market-leading 19.6m³ and with GVMs up to a market-leading 7000kg in the new Euro6 70C,” he said.
“In the cab chassis line-up, we offer single and dual cab options, a number of work-ready models, GVMs from passenger car licence 4,495kg to 7,200kg and of course the Daily 4×4 with its unparalleled off-road ability.”
Product aside, Mr Jonson cited the company’s ongoing development of its Dealer Network as being another key contributor of sales growth.
“It’s particularly important for sale growth to have a professional and strategically-located network and the last 12-18 months has seen considerable effort invested by IVECO to achieve this goal,” Mr Jonson said.
“The company is very pleased with its recent Dealer appointments – we now have over 60 Dealerships including service and parts outlets, offering customers quality sales, service and support throughout the country.”
