It could only happen in Melbourne, the nation’s centre for culinary excellence.
Two Isuzu N-Series have been developed as mobile food trucks serving gourmet fare to Melbourne’s hungry hoardes.
Smokin’ Barrys, is built on an Isuzu NNR 200 with a mobile southern style barbeque kitchen that provides a large selection of mouth-watering meats basted in special sauces and marinades, and then cooked for over 16 hours.
Smokin’ Barrys was developed by business owner, Jim White, who travelled to Memphis, USA and learnt how to cook in the traditional southern style from the masters.
The custom-built van body comprises a fully equipped kitchen which includes a gas fryer, gas oven, cold salad bar, fridge and freezer.
The body, which took three months to build, was constructed by Vehicle Mechanical Specialists located in North Geelong.
Not to be outdone, Ibi Youssef, a man fiercely passionate about spicy food has launched his “Curry Truck’.
Ibi’s mobile curry Mecca is a custom-built Isuzu NPR 275, resplendent in its Taj Mahal vinyl wrap, and fitted out as a fully-functioning kitchen by A & B Food Truck Outfitters in Thomastown.
