Broadbent Compressors of Dandeong has taken delivery of its first Foton Truck, a 45.110 short wheel base which will be used for transporting compressor units all across the Melbourne metro area and into regional Victoria.
According to Broadbent Compressors service manager Sam Piperno, “Cummins has a reputation second to none when it comes to diesel truck engines. Purchase price was also a key factor. It’s something that is important in any business operation, but having a Cummins engine was the major selling point that convinced us to purchase the Foton.
“There have been no negatives with the Foton, the driver that uses the truck most of the time like driving it, it works well in city traffic and it is working very well,” said Sam.
The Foton 45.110 SWB is powered by a 2.8 litre Cummins ISF which produces maximum power of 110kW @2900rpm and maximum torque of 360Nm between 1500 and 2900rpm. The four cylinder, 16 valve Direct Injection common rail Turbocharged and intercooled diesel is mated to a five-speed ZF manual transmission and delivers a GVM of 4490kg. The unit is fitted with a steel tilt tray that makes simplifies the loading and unloading of heavy industrial compressors, often weighing around two tonnes for large 150 kW compressors. The Foton was supplied by Preston Motors Dandenong.
All Foton Trucks sold in Australia come with a three year/160,000km warranty and feature 20,000km service intervals.
